Party Like a 7 Year Old!

It's party day! It's party day! Let the 7 year old free with his friends to celebrate!

MOMENT: Sugar-bush Celebration for a 7 Year Old

Tavish celebrated his 7th birthday surrounded by a few friends in the forest again this year. There were so many smiles, plenty of sap, some syrup sampling, forest exploration, wood chip spreading, pancake eating, and, of course, some birthday cupcakes. Forest Valley Maple Syrup Open House did not disappoint for a birthday bash! Our son is seven!!

Seasoned Splasher!

Keva loves the water - she's a natural swimmer! So, why not try out a swimming lesson?

MOMENT: Swimming with a Splash!

She took the plunge at a nearby community pool and was like a fish in water! Here's a glimpse at just how smooth here first class splash was!

Weekend Separation

Daddy and Tavish head off to Montreal for the weekend. Mommy and Keva hold down the Fort in Toronto!

MOMENTS: Boys Away, Girls Stay

The fellas went to the BioDome, the Blue Jays home opener, and went off for a tour of the Bell Centre - home of the Habs! Meanwhile, the gals hung around home, played at the park, and played with an old Ottawa pal who now lives near Hamilton. Fun, fun for everyone!

Easter Fun 2016

We enjoyed our stay-cation here in Toronto. The Easter bunny found us, no problem!

MOMENT: Search and Find

Easter always starts with wonderful cards from Grandma that may well have inspired some festive creativity in our house ... both kids made a rice-filled sock bunny and decorated some paper eggs with wet chalk 'paint'. We did egg hunts at the Brickworks and at Hideaway Park. The Easter Bunny even left a scavenger hunt of one dozen eggs per child in our home Easter morning! The Easter Bunny certainly kept us on the lookout for eggs this year! There was even an (undocumented) Easter feast with our friends Peggy, Jeremy, Zachary, and Parker.

The Eve of 7

Tavish's birthday fell on a Thursday this year. Treats were team-made by these sweet siblings for Tavish to share with his class; the night before, he awoke to a birthday-love sign and pancakes; he went to squash as usual and he enjoyed dinner at Stratengers with the whole gaggle of friends. It was a splendid celebration for a splendid seven year old.

MOMENT: Seven? Seven!

This boy is a joy to celebrate. A note about his gift from Mommy and Daddy: the white Donaldson  jersey was upgraded to a blue Tulowitzki jersey that fit better a few days later. Blue Jays is best for this boy!

Jay Peak 2016

We just can't get enough of the opportunities and perks mid-week skiing, swimming, skating, and staying is at Jay Peak in Vermont. So... off we went... again.

A chance to solo ski together

MOMENT:
Raised Jay

That's the slogan of their kid's program. Both kids really do enjoy their time there. Tavish did one day of ski school. Keva was up (ish) on skis twice in the school of Daddy. Tom and I even got to do a few runs on our own. The weather was arguably less wintery than usual, but we got out on our skis anyway and made the best of it. This annual vacation has yet to disappoint!

Making the Most of Winter

There wasn't much winter here this year ... but that didn't deter us from making the most of every flake of snow we could accumulate!

MOMENTS: Friends and Fun in the Snow

We pulled out the snowshoes for a shallow snow journey after some minor snow sledding at the Brickworks. We played in parks in the cold. We came in to warm up with friends. We played hockey outside. We just bundled up and made use of what we were given ... a road trip to Ottawa did help with our quest for snow too!
