Camping at Long Point

July 18-19, 2015

Our family ambitiously headed out for a 24 hour adventure in camping. Lake Eerie was a lot of fun! Beach and waves. Camping was also fun, but more in a sleep-depriving way...

Exhaustion

MOMENT: Tired but Full

There was swimming, wave surfing, fire building, marshmellow roasting, and no rest for the weary (aka: parents). Our large family bed that we imagined with four parallel bodies was usurped by bodies in all angles leaving Daddy salvaging some sleep for himself in the sandy part of the tent without a sleeping bag and Mommy sleeping with a Keva overhead (like a cat) and Tavish perpendicular (like an actual "t"). Ahh, the memories and we'll still probably do it again!

MOMENT: 50 is A Lot of Years Worth Celebrating!

A 1,700km drive over 2 days in a small car with a 6 and 3 year old was absolutely worth it to be able to celebrate Grandma and Grandpa Mel. My brother, nephew and Aunt (my Mom's "maid of honour") were there to make the whole thing extra memorable. Fine food. Sandy beaches. Golf. Anne of Green Gables. Waterslides. Cousin time. Goodness.

School Year Wrap

School's out for summer! Thanks were politely given to Tavish's teacher M. Philippe and Mme. Victoire. There was also a temporary goodbye to Caeli, what a rock she's been for our whole family this year!

MOMENT: Playing Hookie

So, he technically missed the last day of his Senior Kindergarten year. We were okay with it, we were on our way to PEI! Woohoo!

Book Bag

June 22, 2015

There were library books to return. I elicited the help of Keva and her backpack to make the special delivery.

MOMENT: Booker with her Backpack

It's pretty exciting to have your very own backpack and a mission to accomplish with it...

Toothless Tavish

First one, then the other --- gone. Toddler teeth gone ... now it's a waiting game for some adult front teeth!

Chess is Catchy

June, 2015

A weekly chess club was offered during lunch time at Tavish's school. He loved it and isn't the only one...

MOMENT: Catching On

Tavish's new-found interest in chess provided the perfect opportunity to pull out an unused marble chess board and pieces from Tom's family. Tavish and Daddy played quite a bit. Keva and I both observed ... but she caught onto the game better...

Paddle the Rouge

June 13, 2015

The Rouge River is the last connected area of undeveloped land between the Oak Ridges Moraine and Lake Ontario ... so we paddled it!

Arrived...
...and ready!

MOMENT: Paddle the Rouge!

It's an awareness-raising event that supports work to keep nature a priority in the Rouge park - an idea we as a family can get behind. So, we pulled Sweetride (our canoe) out, dusted off the lifejackets, and put our paddles in the water!

As a family, we even made an appearance in the promotional video for the event. Take special note at the 30 second mark and again at 1.50!
